Va Tutto is one of my favourite local restaurants, and I think we are incredibly lucky to have a place of this calibre within a short walk of home. I felt the desire to treat a beautiful friend of mine to lunch, and yes there are thousands of lovely places that I could have taken her, but we both need to do a 3pm school pick up so a place close to home was called for. Look no further than Va Tutto. I also happen to think that Myrto and Paul Recinella, owners of Va Tutto are two of the loveliest restaurateurs in the business, they clearly love their customers, many of whom they have developed close, personal friendships with over the many years, and who are regulars (not unlike myself).
Starting with a friendly, welcoming smile as you walk through the door to an earnest thank you as you depart, the waitstaff are attentive and skilled.
Today we dined in the restaurant, however we’d have been just as well looked after and fed in the bistro (which has a slightly different menu and includes wood fired pizzas and other classic bistro offerings). We both ate the Hand-made gyoza of prawn & scallop chilli vinegar, soy dressing, cucumber and green papaya salad available in varying portions 5 $20 6 $24 8 $32 10 $40, we chose 5 so that we could indulge in three courses. They are plump and moist and leave you wanting more, but knowing that something else equally delicious is on its way from the kitchen.
For our main course we had a second entree, such is the flexibility of the team and the menu, I had the Fried Cuttlefish with Asian herb salad, crispy shallots, peanuts and Kaffir lime leaf dressing for $21 and my guest had the Spanner Crab and Potato Cake with pandan infused coconut milk for $24, which looked and smelled delicious. Both choices perfect for a couple of “ladies who lunch”, my friend would kill me for referring to her like that! Smile Miss C :0)
We also managed to stuff in a beautiful Ricotta and Cherry Cannoli for dessert, as well as the Cannoli filled with chocolate and vanilla pasticcera 8…oh my goodness, just divine, and completely indulgent, I’ll be working it off for days to come!
The menu in both the restaurant and bistro are diverse from a simple Margherita pizza to Lobster Caesar Salad and I am yet to have a dish that I don’t love, in fact I am yet to visit Va Tutto and not have a wonderful overall experience, from the food to service. Particular favourites are the Roasted fillet of Rock Ling, pear, parsnip puree and seared scallops as a main for $35 and BBQ Black Berkshire Pork cutlet apple mostarda and crackling also a main for $35. For dessert the Pavlova with vanilla cream, passionfruit coulis, fresh berries $17 is a must for any Pav connoisseur.
It is a place you can easily rely on for a beautiful lunch, a special dinner or even just a midweek family treat, in fact it is the choice of my Mr10 and Miss7 (who insisted we take her and her best girlfriends there for her 7th birthday dinner!). It’s also such a versatile space that I’ve been there for a lunch function catering for 130, which was raved about for months afterwards! Myrto, Paul and their team are fabulous, accommodating and professional, it’s a place firmly cemented in my beautiful suburb and I love it.
